First Things First

None of this will happen if not for the day Dale asked me to marry him. This is my version of the proposal. Dale's version is longer and more detailed... from how and where he ordered the ring, to original-plans-that-were-canceled-because ofs and to other bloopers that happened that day.

(Note: Repost from Facebook)
Dale and I got sick during our stay in Chicago. On December 27, after a few days of being sick and just lying in bed, we both felt better. We then decided to go shopping. Before lunch, he suggested that we take pictures in the house. While having lunch, he asked if we can take one last picture in a certain spot of the house. So after preparing, we all sat down for that one last picture. Dale set up his camera and tripod and took a "test" shot, which he always does when he takes pictures of us to see if the setting was ok. He then asked me to get something from his tripod bag. To which I replied in a very masungit manner (may video, hindi ko pwede i-deny, haha), nasan ba? Nagsungit lang ako kasi ang tagal nya mag-set up eh paalis na nga ng bahay... sige fine, masungit lang talaga ako :p What I got from the bag was a little white box. I panicked and even handed it to him (eh anong gagawin ko, diba?) He knelt and asked, in front of my family, in front of my dad (lakas ng loob haha). I said YES.

Watch the video na lang. More than nakakakilig eh nakakatawa dahil sa dalawa kong kapatid. Ang tagal ko kasi sumagot (nagpapanic nga kasi), dami ko tuloy batok. Kahit slightly nasira yung moment, it was great to have shared it with my family who I absolutely miss.

My First Wedding Expo - Groom's POV

We just spent the whole weekend attending wedding expos. We went to the Weddings and Beyond expo at the NBC Tent last Saturday and the Island Exhibits wedding expo at SM Megamall yesterday (Sunday).

As it was my first time to visit such events, I really didn't know what to expect. I didn't even know that there was free lunch care of the caterers if you cared enough to listen to their sales pitch. Unfortunately, Yeng and I only found out after eating lunch at Gourdo's, where we ordered three (3) whole pizzas. Their pizza was great, though it gets to you after the 3rd day of eating it.

Going back to the wedding fair, the event at the NBC was packed. They had everything from invites to aircon rentals. There was even this exhibitor that specialized in preserving gowns! I thought you just had to put it inside a box with moth balls then stick it inside your cabinet. Then add a little bit more of moth balls. Hehehe.

One thing I realized was the reason why some photography and videography studios can offer (relatively) cheap packages is because they have multiple teams that can cover multiple weddings at the same day. So you're not really sure who and what you'll get during your wedding day, though I'm pretty sure that all their photographers are trained sufficiently and experienced. The difference though in getting the Lito Sys, Pat Dys, Pilar Tuasons, etc. of the industry, is that with these guys you know who you're getting and what skills they bring to the table. Of course they come with a higher price tag.

The Sunday event at Megamall was smaller. Most of the photog and videog vendors at the Fort were also at Megamall. We got a couple of vouchers from some of the hair and make up exhibitors as well as some from event stylists. Yeng actually had a free trial make up done which i found to be so-so. I think the make up put on her nose was quite over the top. She thinks so too.

At the end of two days, we didn't book any supplier but at least we had a ball park estimate of how much each supplier would cost. We also found some invitation ideas that we might try DIY. Anyway were thinking of having a relatively small wedding so we might be able to do it.

There will be two (2) more wedding expos on February, and hopefully by then we should have already booked a couple of suppliers and if not, at the least we should know which ones are worth booking and which ones are just good enough to get a free lunch from.

Hinde Mataas Standards Ko for My Stag Party

Sa mga kabarkada ko, eto lang ang hiling ko sa stag party ko...

Medyo mura na siguro rates niyan si Jessica Alba, naganak na eh.

Note: Yeng and respective girls. don't worry no touch kami. Kaya dapat maganda talaga to look at. Hehe.

The First of My Last Posts as a Bachelor

Last December 27, Yeng and I got engaged at her parents' living room. As that deserves its own post, I'll leave the details for now (or you can watch the video from Yeng's or my facebook account). Instead, I'll just tell you what you can expect from this blog while we prep for our big day.

We look forward to sharing our preparations, decisions (how we make them might be more interesting), and thoughts as THE day approaches. Hopefully when we read through this blog one year from now, we'll realize that it was easier than we thought it would be. Currently, it actually looks daunting and exciting at the same time. Whether that would be the case or not, only time will tell. The only thing I can guarantee is we'll both try our best to make it an extremely enjoyable year. It should be, as it's the last of our single lives. Hehe.

So until the day she drops her mom's maiden name from her name, pushes her dad's last name to the left and shortens it to a single letter with a period (.) and appends the name IRANON to her name, you'll be able to regularly read posts by Yeng and myself. Maybe more regularly from Yeng. Hehe.
